Access

How do I sign in to Claude Enterprise?

Sign in with your MIT email address using Single Sign-On (SSO). See How to Get Access on the Claude Enterprise Tool Overview for step-by-step instructions.

How long do students have access to Claude Enterprise?

Full-time MIT Sloan students retain access to Claude Enterprise until graduation.

How do I know I’m using my MIT Enterprise account?

Open your Account Menu in the bottom-left corner and confirm that Massachusetts Institute of Technology Enterprise is selected. See How to Get Access for step-by-step instructions.

If you also have a personal Claude account under the same email address, you will see both Personal and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Enterprise. Use the MIT Enterprise workspace whenever you work with MIT data or information that requires MIT enterprise privacy and security protections.

I signed in to Claude but don’t see the MIT Enterprise workspace. What should I do?

First, confirm you signed in with your MIT email address and SSO. See How to Get Access.

If you still do not see the MIT Enterprise workspace, contact the STS Help Desk at stshelp@mit.edu or 617-253-2000. Include a screenshot of your Account Menu.

Accounts & Usage

What account levels are available to MIT Sloan faculty and lecturers?

MIT Sloan offers two account levels to faculty and eligible lecturers. See Who Can Use It for both levels and their usage.

A Standard Account suits most teaching, research, and administrative use. Choose a Premium Account if you expect to use Claude heavily. Premium requires a cost object, and the annual cost is listed on the Claude Account Faculty Intake Form. If you are not sure, start with a Standard Account.

Students receive a Standard Account automatically and do not choose an account level.

How does Claude Enterprise compare with my existing Claude Pro or Max subscription?

Faculty and lecturers who subscribe to Claude Pro or Max can use these estimates to compare their current plan with the MIT Sloan account options before changing a subscription. Usage levels are approximately:

  • MIT Sloan Standard: ~2.5x Claude Pro
  • Claude Max 5x (~$100/month): ~5x Claude Pro
  • MIT Sloan Premium: ~12x Claude Pro
  • Claude Max 20x (~$200/month): ~20x Claude Pro

These figures are approximate and subject to change. Actual usage limits vary based on factors such as the model, features used, conversation length, and file attachments.

How do faculty and lecturers request or change an account?

Complete the Claude Account Faculty Intake Form. Premium requests must include a cost object. To move from a Standard Account to a Premium Account later, submit the form again.

I’ve reached my usage limit. What are my options?

Usage limits vary by model, by the type of work you are doing, and with overall demand on Claude. Anthropic does not publish exact limits, and they reset on a rolling window.

If you have reached your limit right now, wait for the reset window. To see your current usage and next reset window, open your Account Menu in the bottom-left corner and go to Settings > Usage. In the meantime, you can use other MIT-provided AI tools with your MIT credentials, including Parley and its API, and Google Gemini.

If you reach your limit regularly:

Sloan Technology Services cannot see, raise, or reset individual usage limits.

Existing Claude Accounts & Migration

If you already have a Claude account using your MIT email address, you can wait to migrate it.

Your MIT Enterprise account works independently of any existing personal Claude account. You can start using MIT Enterprise today and decide later whether to move your personal account into it. If both accounts use the same email address, you can switch between them from the Account Menu.

We recommend waiting. Migration is not reversible, and we will publish full guidance on what moves, what doesn’t, and how to prepare. Nothing is lost by waiting.

I have an existing personal Claude account using my MIT email. What happens when I sign in?

When you sign in to Claude with your MIT credentials through Single Sign-On (SSO), you will have access to your MIT Enterprise workspace in addition to your existing personal Claude account.

Your existing personal account does not automatically move into or merge with your MIT Enterprise account. By default, the two remain separate.

To switch between them: Click your initials or name in the bottom-left menu in Claude and select either Personal or MIT Enterprise.

If your personal account includes a paid Pro or Max subscription, that subscription also remains separate unless you choose to migrate your personal account.

IMPORTANT: Your personal Claude account does not have the same privacy and security protections as your MIT Enterprise account. Make sure you are using your MIT Enterprise workspace when working with MIT data or information that requires MIT enterprise privacy and security protections.

Connectors

What are Claude connectors?

Connectors let Claude work with information and tools in other applications, such as document storage, email, calendars, collaboration platforms, and development tools.

Learn how to add and manage connectors in Claude.

Can Claude connect to Microsoft 365?

Yes, you can connect Claude to a personal Microsoft 365 account using supported integrations for services such as Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.

Can Claude connect to Google Workspace?

Yes, you can connect Claude to a personal Google Workspace or Google account using supported integrations for services such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.

However, MIT Google Workspace accounts are not currently connected to MIT’s Claude Enterprise environment. These connectors are under review, and this page will be updated if or when they become available.

Can Claude connect to Slack?

Yes, you can connect Claude to a non-MIT Slack workspace using Claude’s supported Slack integration.

However, MIT Slack is not currently connected to MIT’s Claude Enterprise environment. This connector is under review, and this page will be updated if or when it becomes available.

Can I connect Claude Enterprise to Canvas?

There isn’t currently a native connector between Claude Enterprise and Canvas. However, you can use the Canvas API to access information from your Canvas account.

To use the Canvas API, create a personal access token in Canvas under Account > Settings > Approved Integrations > New Access Token.
You can then use that token to make requests through the Canvas API.

Your access token inherits the same permissions you have in Canvas, so keep the following in mind:

  • Treat your access token like a password. Do not share it with others or include it in places where it could be exposed.
  • Use extra caution if you are a member of a teaching team (e.g., faculty, course admin, TA) or have elevated Canvas permissions. Your token may provide access to course content, student information, or other data beyond your own personal Canvas content.
  • Revoke the token when you no longer need it. You can manage or remove access tokens from your Canvas settings at any time.
