Starting January 16, 2021, Canvas will support push notifications in the Canvas Student app related to announcements, assignments, events, conversations, and collaborations. Details about each of these notification types can be found in the Canvas Notifications PDF.

Note to Faculty & Staff

Students often use the Canvas Student app to access your Canvas course on the go using their iOS or Android devices.

The Canvas Student app allows students to subscribe to push notifications, so they can easily stay up-to-date with your course work even when they’re not at their desk.

Please note: Email notifications in Canvas aren’t going away, but to reach more students, you may want to encourage them to utilize push notifications on the Canvas Student app.

Note to Students

As a student, you can access your Canvas courses on the go by downloading the Canvas Student app on your iOS or Android device.

Is your email inbox bursting at the seams? The Canvas Student app enables you to subscribe to push notifications, so you can easily stay up-to-date with your course work even when you’re not at your desk.
