We’re excited to share that Microsoft Copilot access has now been enabled for students.
Students can now take advantage of Copilot’s suite of AI-powered productivity features such as content generation, document summarization, and creative media generation. Powered by large language models like GPT-4, Copilot can help students accomplish tasks through natural language conversations.
Some key details:
- Access is currently enabled at no-cost for all full-time MIT faculty, staff and students.
- Students can access Copilot at copilot.microsoft.com using their MIT Kerberos login.
- Chat data is not shared with Microsoft or used to train their AI models.
Note that Microsoft Copilot currently has some limitations. You cannot upload files other than images and you can’t access OpenAI’s Advanced Data Analysis tool. Also, when you submit a query, there is no way to tell if this tool is using GPT 3.5 or GPT 4.
We encourage you and your students to explore Copilot’s possibilities within appropriate academic contexts. As with any AI system, it is important to verify outputs to avoid hallucinations and bias.
