In this guide, you’ll learn how to sign up to practice using the teaching table and other in-room technology in a MIT Sloan classroom.
Practice Session for MIT Sloan Classrooms
A practice session is a reservation to meet with an AV technician to learn the basics of the MIT Sloan classrooms and an opportunity to practice using the in-room technology prior to a live class session.
Tip: It is highly recommended that teaching teams practice together in the same session in order to best simulate a classroom session with a clear understanding of each person’s roles.
In the classroom you’ve reserved for the practice session, you can:
- Get a brief overview of the classroom from an AV technician
- Understand where the in-room controls are
- Explore the classroom’s capabilities and controls, including:
- Using a document camera, the in-room PC, an auto-tracking camera, and the Teaching Table and its Touch Panel
- Moving and/or swapping screens
- Connecting and using a laptop or iPad wirelessly
- Do a test run of an activity in the classroom
Suggested Pre-work:
- Invite your teaching team to the Practice Session.

Consultation for Classroom Technology
Request a consultation with the Manager of AV Systems and the Teaching Studio to get an in-depth understanding of the classroom technology or explore advanced ways of using the classroom technology for your specific needs.
We recommend requesting a consultation if you plan to include a simulation, hyflex session, remote guest speaker, group presentation, or any activities that go beyond the built-in capabilities of the classroom technology.
