Panopto allows you to copy and/or move a video. This is useful if you record a video and want to include it in multiple course sites in Canvas, or want to duplicate a video and preserve the original.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to copy and move a video in Panopto.

You must be enrolled in the course site you want to copy and/or move the videos from. To learn how to access a past course site, refer to How to Access a Past Course in Canvas.

How to Copy a Video

  1. In your Canvas course, click on the Videos link in the Course Navigation Menu. Note: If “Videos” isn’t listed, you can easily enable it under Settings.

  2. In the top-right corner, click on the Open in new window icon.

  3. Navigate to the session you want to copy, hover over the video’s thumbnail, and click the Settings button.

  4. Click Manage [1] and then click Create Full Copy [2].

    • Note: By default, the copied video will inherit the same permissions from the original folder.
  5. Click the X to close the window.

How to Move a Video

  1. In your Canvas course, click on the Videos link in the Course Navigation Menu. Note: If “Videos” isn’t listed, you can easily enable it under Settings.

  2. In the top-right corner, click on the Open in new window icon.

  3. Navigate to the session you want to copy and click Settings.

  4. Under the Overview tab, click Edit.

  5. Select the desired folder destination for the video.
