What if the teaching table worked so seamlessly that you never had to think about it? After 10 years, we have the chance to reimagine it—not just as a piece of technology, but as an effortless extension of your teaching.
A Fresh Start
MIT Sloan is launching a comprehensive redesign of our classroom teaching tables—the command centers where you manage displays, audio, and other teaching technology. (You might also hear it referred to as a lectern or a podium.)
Our current teaching table design was created a decade ago—and it has served us well. But teaching has evolved, technology has advanced, and now we have an opportunity to start fresh. We’re not just updating interfaces or adding features—we’re studying how our faculty really teach so we can build a system that supports your needs.
Your Experience Matters
We’re approaching this project as a partnership with faculty, starting with a crucial question: How do you want to teach, and how can our classroom technology better support that?
Throughout 2025, we’ll be:
- Conducting user interviews and observations
- Holding brainstorming sessions
- Testing new interface concepts
- Gathering feedback on prototype designs
- Learning about peer schools’ teaching podiums
You know better than anyone what works and what doesn’t in our classrooms. Your insights about teaching at Sloan—the opportunities, the frustrations, the workarounds you’ve developed, the features you wish you had—will directly shape the future of our classroom technology.
Want to Contribute?
