The MITSIS Grade Export tool allows Faculty and Course Admins to export a final grade CSV file from Canvas for submission to MIT’s Online Grading System (OGS).

  • The MITSIS Grade Export tool displays the calculated grade from your Canvas Gradebook and allows Faculty and Course Admins to input a final letter grade and comments.
  • This tool is only accessible to Faculty and Course Admins. Teaching Assistants cannot access this tool.
  • Only students who are officially registered for your course will be displayed in the MITSIS Grade Export tool. Listeners and Non-Registered Participants are NOT displayed in this tool.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to export your final grades using the MITSIS Grade Export Tool in Canvas.

How to Export Your Final Grades

  1. In your Canvas course, click on MITSIS Grade Export in the Course Navigation Menu.

  2. Optional: Students from all sections are displayed by default. If your Canvas site contains multiple sections (e.g., Sections A and B), you can filter students by section using the All Sections drop-down.

  3. In the Letter Grade column, enter a final letter grade for each student.

  4. Optional: In the Comments column, enter comments for each student.

  5. Click the Export Grades button.

  6. A CSV file will download to your computer.
  7. Login to MIT’s Online Grading System (OGS) via https://ogs.mit.edu/, choose the Local Source option, and upload your CSV file.
